Description
Epiphany is a paean to classic science fiction authors, like Robert Heinlein (The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress) and Isaac Azimov (the Foundation series). The novel, spanning 1970-2020, presents interesting characters: a powerful alien with a hidden agenda; a cynical ex-CIA black ops agent; a sociopath who wants to be normal; an ancient Chinese with a Midas touch; a secretary with a talent for high finance and kick-ass action; and a psychologist with a unique bedside manner. Together they must preserve human civilization in the face of the return of an Ice Age, ironically triggered by global warming, that threatens mankind with extinction. To be successful, they must amass great wealth and political influence, manipulate entire governments and economies, and design a stable social-economic-political system capable of sustaining enclaves for a few million people through tens of thousands of frigid years — all while fending off those who would co-opt their enclaves and their special abilities provided by the alien.
I hope to launch at least a trilogy with the follow-up novels tracing humanity’s experiences in the enclaves during the Ice Age and exploring the galaxy as re-engineered humans.
